Founder & Director – Immersive Events Initiative I founded and led a self-sustaining immersive events venture that generated over £15,000 in revenue. The concept centred on transforming nightlife venues into fully themed, cinematic environments using bespoke set design and visual storytelling. I secured initial investment, assembled and managed a cross-disciplinary team of 13, including set designers, graphic designers, and logistics coordinators, and oversaw all aspects of creative development, operations, marketing, and execution. The project combined entrepreneurial strategy, creative direction, and team leadership to deliver a high-impact, commercially viable experience.
As a BMA ambassador, I represented my medical school within the UK’s leading doctors’ union, acting as a key liaison between students and the BMA. I organised and hosted local BMA events, promoted membership engagement across year groups, and facilitated discussions on key policy issues affecting medical students. My role involved coordinating voting drives during elections, collaborating with fellow ambassadors nationwide, and contributing to the visibility of BMA campaigns through strategic communications and targeted outreach. I also supported recruitment efforts, ran cross-cohort advertising, and provided a point of contact for students seeking guidance on BMA resources, advocacy, and student welfare initiatives.
As President of the Medical and Veterinary Society at St Catharine’s College, I led the planning and delivery of a wide-ranging programme of academic, professional, and welfare-focused events for the student community. I organised high-profile guest lectures featuring leaders in clinical medicine and research, including Dr Mathew Hoare (East Anglia Hepatocellular Carcinoma Service), Dr Jane Ludlow (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome), Dr Poh Wang, Professor Carol Brayne, and Dr Alex Wee. I also championed community engagement through alumni and student-led talks, such as a session by Dr Abayaratne on “Team Around a Person,” a novel approach to tackling homelessness. To support academic development, I hosted a student research evening where pre-clinical students presented their summer projects, followed by final-year students sharing elective experiences from locations including Uganda, Australia, and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Recognising the demands of a medical degree, I also curated a series of wellbeing initiatives, from informal peer mentoring sessions to creative, hands-on activities, such as making the handmade candle holders used in this year’s society dinner. The annual dinner, which I organised and hosted, featured speeches from Steve Rees and Professor Emma Morris. This role required independent leadership, strategic planning, and the ability to foster both academic enrichment and community wellbeing.
Research Projects in Healthcare Team Around a Person (TAP) Model – Cambridge: Conducted qualitative interviews and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of a multi-agency care model for people experiencing homelessness, focusing on care integration, stakeholder perspectives, and system challenges. Palliative Care Staff Support Study: Investigated the impact of patient death on healthcare staff and evaluated existing support systems. Findings from this project were presented at a conference in Sheffield, highlighting key areas for improving staff wellbeing.
Head of Design – St Catharine’s College May Ball As Head of Design for the St Catharine’s May Ball, I led the creative vision and visual execution for one of the college’s largest annual events, with a budget exceeding £200,000. My responsibilities included: Developing and implementing a cohesive aesthetic concept that shaped the event’s branding, marketing materials, venue décor, and overall guest experience. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including event organisers, logistics, marketing, and external vendors such as graphic designers, set builders, and lighting specialists. Managing a creative team responsible for producing high-quality promotional content, themed decorations, and bespoke design elements that aligned with the event’s vision. Overseeing timelines and workflows to ensure all design deliverables met deadlines and budget constraints. Coordinating with suppliers and contractors to maintain quality standards and negotiate costs within budget. Contributing to risk management and contingency planning related to event aesthetics and infrastructure. This role demanded strong leadership, project management, creative direction, and close stakeholder collaboration to deliver a memorable, seamless, and visually impactful event.
