Worked within the Emerging Technology team which aims to identify, analyse and understand the impact of new technologies that could affect Government policy.
As part of the Science Review team, I helped to develop robust recommendations that define what Wellcome funded science is for and identify how best it can contribute to achieving Wellcome's mission of improving health.
Worked for the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, contributing to the core business of BBSRC and supporting the delivery of peer review funded activities. - Developed an understanding of BBSRC’s broader activities in education, learning and industry including facilitating the submission of a policy response to VITAE on behalf of BBSRC's postdoc subgroup for the Review of the Research Concordat. - Interacted with major stakeholders, both academic and industrial, attending panel meetings. Prepared documentation and reviews to support the assessment of grant proposals through peer review. - Developed events management experience as delivery lead for BBSRC’s Innovator of the Year 2019 awards. - Produced engaging science communication and copy on BBSRCs PhD student activities both internally for the purpose of the Business Strategy Group and externally for BBSRC’s website.
- Supported analysis through external consultations and desk research. This supported a translational strategy project aimed at answering the question 'How can we accelerate the translation of CRUK's research through to patient benefit?' . -Tracked and analysed the latest news in cancer research, constructing a weekly Research Strategy and Evaluation news bulletin whilst growing readership across Cancer Research UK.
