Global finance leader. Big 4 trained. More than two decades of getting things done. I'm a senior finance executive with over 20 years of experience spanning investment management, private equity, and professional services. Trained at KPMG, I've built my career operating across multiple countries and jurisdictions — navigating complex financial reporting, banking, regulatory and tax environments. Impax is an AIM-listed asset manager with operations in London, US, Hong Kong and Ireland. The firm also manages three private equity infrastructure funds and 60+ listed equity funds. Initially, I joined as Head of Finance reporting to CFO. The role expanded due to exponential growth and I was involved in the setup of global reporting functions. Built a robust framework of internal controls to provide full risk visibility and enable ongoing monitoring. Implemented the new regulations: IFPR, FACTA and AIFMD, in efficient, pragmatic, timely manner with limited access to external advisors. Part of a four-man team involved in acquisition of US-based company, which expanded firm’s global footprint and doubled AUM. Grew financial team from four to 13. Achieved highest rating in group in recent external staff satisfaction survey,. Established reporting systems in Hong Kong, US and Ireland offices, as well as customer onboarding processes, payroll, pension arrangements and healthcare provisions. Implemented and rolled out MS Dynamics, Workday Adaptive, eRequest and Concur globally to enable scale. Initiated a treasury management system and a hedging process to monitor own investments. In addition, wrote the full annual report, delivered annual and interim stock exchange reports, designed and operated companywide tax-efficient share schemes, and established tax structuring on the firm’s private equity funds.
June 2008 - Aug 2010 Specialising in private equity, I led audit engagements with funds in private equity, venture capital and mezzanine debt sectors for several SMEs. I was parachuted in to overhaul the private equity audit department. Within 18 months, I transformed the department from a demotivated 34-strong team to a driven, efficient department team with clear structures. As head of a new business targeting initiative, I devised a structure to effectively identify, monitor and win new audit clients. Additionally, I was appointed subject matter expert to lead SAP implementation across the group. I established checklists to manage processes and advised software teams on best structures to track performance on individual audits. June 2006 - May 2008 In this period I concluded multiple projects utilising IFRS and UK / US GAAP knowledge. Clients comprised Russian-based aluminium producer seeking IPO, UK-based glass container manufacturer, UK-listed mid-cap multinational engineering company, South African AIM-listed mining company, and US-based silicon metal manufacturer pursuing AIM listing. Oct 2003 - May 2006 I was seconded to Minnesota for two years, later extended by eight months. Here, I spearheaded critical audits of two major US-listed clients, managing SOX 404 and directing teams of up to eight. I successfully steered one firm though an SEC investigation following identification of serious accounting irregularities. I gained in-depth knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules and SOS 404 requirements. Sept 1994 - Oct 2003 I joined as a junior auditor, progressing to oversee listed clients in the retail, defence and automotive sectors. I devised new audit proposals, oversaw due diligence and working capital assignments, provided IFRS training and assisted with rollout of new audit approaches. I concluded multiple projects utilising IFRS and UK / US GAAP knowledge.
