In this role I will give support to the local Middleware specialists in the different country's in Europe. Currently we are launching a new middleware platform from BD that will connect many devices in Microbiology and automation.
In this function I need to install and maintain a middleware system from BD called Epicenter. Epicenter is middleware from BD that sits in between BD diagnostic systems in Microbiology and the Laboratory Information System (LIS) from the lab. Alle data communication is sent to and from a Microsoft SQL database. It brings many challenges as I have to work together with IT from the lab to implement our systems into their network. Update 02/mar/2018: Since april 2017 I have the opportunity to work on different R&D projects with regard to BD middleware and Database Management (Transact SQL). For this I am travelling to our Europe R&D department which is located in France. I go there 1 week per month. In parallel i am also part of a core team that is put together to facilitate the launch in Europe of a new middleware system That BD is developing.
Field Service Engineer for the Benelux area. TriPath was bought by BD in 2007. Until 2011 I travelled in Europe to work on systems from Tripath, but after that TriPath got integrated more in the BD structure and then my region changed to Benelux. I got trained on BD systems in Diagnostics. I did this until October 2015, then my function changed to Middleware specialist.
I worked as an FSE on all systems from TriPath. This included an instrument designed to diagnose cervical cancer. Aditional to this system there is an imaging system to diagnose these cells together with additional foto's and coordinates of suspected regions. The imaging system was in most cases remotely accessible and was connected to the LIS (Labo Information System) from the lab.
