I was promoted to store manager to manage staff, customer satisfaction, sales, visual setting and store marketing strategy. A great part of the role was to ensure that existing and new customer relationships were strengthened and enhanced, and sales targets achieved. Responsibilities and accomplishments: • Acting as a role model for junior staff by setting high standards through personal behaviour and actions. • Maximising sales performance through delivering an exceptional customer experience, people management and cost control. Surpassed targets on a daily basis reaching a record of +200% on several occasions against previous year’s sales. • Recruiting, training and developing new staff members, including new store managers for other sites. Some of the people I have recruited over the years have stayed on with the company and have become supervisors or managers. • Active participant in Store Openings through staff and managerial training, press events, vendors and public authority relations. • As a reward for my good work I was taken on trips with the wholesale and buying teams to trading shows in Berlin, Paris (twice) and Copenhagen. No other manager had ever been taken more than twice before. During those trips I helped the buying team put together new collections. I also acted as an aid to LOUCHE ( JOY’s own brand) wholesale team making for the brand £9,000 on a single transaction (the average of the team was £2,000/sale) and an overall £15,000 while showing at WHO’S NEXT (Paris). • Number one in the company twice in two years and never going below number 4 in the company competing against well located stores (i.e. Clapham Junction).
Hired as shop assistant but offered the VM role after a week. Mainly responsible for the visual representation of the shop floor by maintaining high standards of visual proposition through use of new lines to continuously update and re-freshen the look of the store. • Organising the effective and efficient utilisation of store space. • Involved in rearranging, remerchandising & replenishing new stock as it arrived. • Coordinating store display in line with brand guidelines and strategy. • Delivering weekly floor moves, window installations and mannequin styling. • During my time as a Store VM I was sent on a 4-day trip to Guernsey to train the staff when the store there fist opened. • Requested to visit other stores on regular basis to ensure standards were followed and to train other store VMs.
