I'm a First Class Honours Science Graduate from an international science degree course in DCU. I graduated first in my year in 2010 and have now completed my Higher Diploma in Science in Computing (Web and Cloud Technologies) at DBS. I also have a level 8 CPD Certificate in Digital Imaging skills from DIT, and experience in the public and private ICT sector.

    From April 2011 to January 2012 I spent 9 months working in a graduate placement programme as a scientific officer for the National Ambient Air Quality Programme division of the Office of Environmental Assessment in the Environmental Protection Agency, Richview. My responsibilities included: • Assisting with the integration of a new I.T. and communication system for remote air quality monitoring stations, including testing and bug fixing communication with newly deployed equipment. • Developing a database of contacts for the Air Quality Bulletin and updating outdated contact information. • Arranging meetings with e-tender clients and liaising with and county and city councils, site operators and other agencies. • Supporting the Ambient Air Quality team with I.T. work, collecting air quality data and updating the online air quality database SAFER. For my work I have been credited in the Air Quality in Ireland 2010 Report. • Research and support on developing projects such as the EURAD (European Air Quality Dispersion) air quality prediction model and the U.S. EPA UNMIX model. • Assisting with ISO17025 accreditation by updating and merging electronic documents and creating a new filing system for physical documents. • Maintaining and updating the air quality section of the EPA website. This includes updating site logs, posting new information, ensuring correct up-to-date content, and standardising format across pages. • Administrative support for the Air Quality National Monitoring Network Annual Workshop. This involved preparing delegate packs and registration, designing and sending an electronic survey for feedback, and preparing a presentation of the results for the team. • Assisting with air quality fieldwork and laboratory work both as part of a team and independently including carrying out site checks and assisting with calibration.

This included; • Working within the potato breeding program running and documenting ELISA viral analysis for the most prevalent potato viruses Y, X, A, S and Leaf Roll as part of the Potato Certification Scheme in Ireland. • Artificially cross-germinated potato breeds, and carrying out assessments on the resulting hybrid varieties such as colour and taste. • Carrying out large scale disease assessment within the cereal breeding program.
