I am a first year Bsc Psychology student at the University of Nottingham. I am currently interested in future careers, both directly and indirectly related to Psychology. I am looking to connect with like-minded professionals and take opportunities where possible to improve my current skillset and professional portfolio.
I worked both out back and front of house, collaborating with Vodafone to provide mobile phone chargers for festival attendees. This meant working in an incredibly fast-paced environment. This experience enabled me to build upon strong collaboration skills as we had to work together in order to ensure we were fully stocked and wouldn't run out of chargers, contact maintenance if required, and communicate with other store locations across the festival.
I have worked for the Crown for 3 years in this role. My key responsibilities have been making bookings via phone and in-person, greeting customers on arrival, creating bills, and taking payment. I have also been responsible for the upkeep of a clean environment for customers, being proactive and constantly cleaning and tidying tables where possible. I have been fully trained as a bartender and worked in this position for around 1.5 years. In this role, I have learned how to relate and build rapport with clients rapidly in order to make their experience extremely positive and ensure they return in the future. I have also had experience supervising staff, having been the supervisor of our beer tent during our busy beer festival. This improved my skills in team management and how to manage a bar, having to keep track of cash and card payments as well as stock levels and bar appearance. I have also, where possible, assisted in training new members of staff on the bar, showing them key skills needed to ensure a smooth bar shift.
