A highly experienced and accomplished Installation and Operations Manager, actively working on major EPCI and T&I OFFSHORE WIND projects, having worked in Offshore Construction Industry for more than 20 years. Able to manage both projects teams and departments, with an outgoing personality and proven leadership skills involving developing and motivating teams to achieve their objectives.
Responsible for the OFFSHORE WIND Installation and Operations Departments based in London, Paris and Milan Offices. -Ensure the development of technical and operational solutions to fulfill the technical-qualitative requirements for the OFFSHORE WIND projects, both in acquisition and execution phase; -Ensure the coordination of the fleet activities during the offshore construction phases, managing the interfaces between vessels and projects and the other Company departments; -Ensure the technical assistance and support to the fleet during the offshore operations; -Ensure operative support to projects for the activities related to project logistics and Survey/Positioning -Ensure that the engineering solutions adopted are suitable and in line with the fabrication processes of the selected yards and with the technical characteristics and capabilities of the selected vessels, contributing to the enhancement of the operational efficiency and the reduction of the completion times; -Ensure the coordination of the installation analysis and the definition of the installation methods related to the Company OFFSHORE WIND operations;Guarantee the capitalization of feedbacks on operational activities through the revision and optimization of standard installation procedures. -Contribute to the definition of project execution strategy, since the commercial phase, proposing the most competitive and efficient engineering execution plans; -Contribute to the elaboration of technical elements necessary for the preparation of bids, for the definition of procurement strategies for relevant goods and services and for the identification of the construction/installation/support vessels required for the execution of the project.
Responsible for the • activities of analysis and installation methods definition and development for S-Lay, Lifting and Float Over and more generally addressed to Renewables and decommissioning projects , providing assistance and support to the operations of the Offshore Division fleet; • definition of standard operative methods for the Offshore Division fleet; • capitalisation of feedback on operational activities through the revision and optimisation of standard installation procedures; • capitalisation of experiences gained and the promotion and distribution of know-how within the Company and the group; • continuous improvement and management of the relevant engineering processes; • promotion, implementation and monitoring of the Engineering operating processes worldwide; • development of the Engineering professional family; • planning and optimisation of resources dedicated to management and execution of methods and analysis; • development of conceptual and basic design activities addressed to the realisation of new offshore construction vessels; • implementation of assigned initiatives/activities for the technological development of Offshore Division fleet vessels and related offshore equipment; • contribute to the identification of evolution trends and forecasts in terms of availability, performances and use of technologies, in order to gather specific medium/long term opportunities based on the use of innovative technologies of technical solutions; • participate to the definition of procurement strategies for relevant goods and services; • guarantee the technical assessments and qualification of vendors; • worldwide functional coordination of the Installation engineering departments within the different operating companies and branches of the Offshore Division;
• Line Management for the Pipelay and Heavy-lift Project and Installation Engineers (PE & IE) assigned to the Installation methods group. • Ensuring all I.E. are trained in accordance with the SAIPEM business management system, guidelines and ethics. • To oversee the efficient and effective running of the Company installation engineering and support activities ensuring that all specialist teams (P.E., I.E.) achieve their objectives for the realization of the projects in line with corporate guidelines and standards. • To be familiar with and to implement company QHSE policies in Installation Methods engineering and offshore operations for projects. • To develop standardized methods for offshore installation projects and provide assistance to commercial departments as required. • To provide operational assistance to Operations Manager, Project Execution Manager and to projects as required. • To provide technical support to the vessels for project related matters as required. • To propose equipment improvements enhancing the efficiency of Company operations and to develop new equipment for solutions to new and existing projects. • To provide support to projects for the onshore preparations phase (yard reviews) as well as the offshore installation phase. • To participate in HAZIDS and Risk Assessments for the operational phases of projects. • To assist the logistics department coordinating vessel logistics in yards/bases and for suitability, on-hire and off-hire inspections of third-party vessels. • To manage the “lessons learnt” and “knowledge retaining” processes to ensure that practical and operational feedbacks from previous projects are transferred to the projects under development. • To maintain awareness of Saipem’s current requirements and where applicable of the latest Industry Codes and Standards including statutory rules and regulations.
• To coordinate and manage the Installation Engineering/Methods activities on the different CastorONE projects: o Development and standardization of the Installation Methods activities and project procedures for the pipelay activities, for the In-Line structures and PLET laydown activities. o Reviewing project procedures, manuals and documents required for the execution of the works. o Monitoring the progress of project deliverables: identification of critical areas and definition of corrective actions in agreement with project teams. o Reviewing Installation Engineering analysis to ensure compliance with operation requirements and project specifications. • To develop project schedule and method statement at bid stage. • To interface with other SAIPEM department and engineering teams to develop in house software and tools customized for the CastorONE vessel. • To participate in HAZIDS and risk assessments for the operational phases of projects. • To organize technical reviews of CastorONE projects. • To ensure all Methods Engineers assigned to the Centre of Competence are trained in accordance with the SAIPEM business management system, guidelines and ethics. • To monitor the man-hours expenditure non the various project to ensure compliance with the relevant budgets.
Project Operations Manager for the first three projects of the new built DP pipe lay vessel CASTORONE in the GoM: • Installation Engineering/Methods activities coordination in accordance with the contract specifications: o Coordination of Saipem Corporate Installation Methods activities and project procedures preparation o Reviewing project procedures, manuals and drawings required for the execution of the works o Monitoring the progress of project deliverables, identification of critical areas and definition of corrective actions o Reviewing Installation Engineering analysis to ensure compliance with operation requirements and project specifications • Operation management: o Supporting the QHSE department preparing the project HAZID for the new pipelay vessel and relevant pipelay equipment o Organizing Audits of the Marine Spread in due time to avoid any delay in operations o Ensuring operational procedures are followed in a safe and timely manner o Reviewing mobilization and operation schedule to ensure consistency with the overall project schedule and milestones o Reviewing daily reports issued by Offshore superintendent o Ensuring coordination between Marine spreads is performed according to the Marine Spread Bridging Document and simultaneous operations requirements o Ensuring the project is staffed with qualified personnel required to provide assistance on board the lay vessel during the offshore operations • Contract administration: o Coordinating the technical and operational aspects of the project activities within the Project schedule and in line with Saipem commitments with Clients. o Assisting the Project Director and Project Manager reviewing Projects contractual requests for Change Orders. o Assisting the Project Director maximizing Saipem commercial result during the execution and management of JSM and BGF projects.
Management of the subcontract for the installation of 700 km of the Nord Stream 48” pipelines using the DP lay vessel Solitaire: • Engineering activities coordination in accordance with the contract specifications: o Coordination of Pipelay Subcontractor design/engineering activities and Contractor review activities o Review of project procedures, manuals and documents required for the execution of the works o Design and engineering of interfaces between Subcontractor DP lay vessel and Contractor lay barges o Monitor subcontractor progress of project deliverable: identification of critical areas and definition of corrective actions in agreement with subcontractor • Subcontractor’s management: o Support the Quality and HSE Representatives in the preparation and completion of audits carried out on Subcontractor equipment and marine spread o Organize with Client’s Representative and Contractor’s Representative Client’s Audits of the Marine Spread in due time to avoid any delay in operations o Coordinate the contractual and operational aspects of DP Lay Subcontractor activities within the Project schedule and in line with Contractor commitments with Client o Review of Subcontractor mobilization and operation schedule to ensure consistency with the overall project schedule and milestones o Review Subcontractor contractual requests for change Orders • SAIPEM representative on board Subcontractor DP lay vessel during pipelay operations for the NSP project: o Ensure that operational procedures are followed in a safe and timely manner o Review of daily reports issued by Subcontractor’s offshore superintendent o Ensure that coordination between Marine spreads is performed according to the Marine Spread Bridging Document and simultaneous operations requirements o Ensure that any cost and/or schedule impact due to Company’s required changes or to Subcontractor downtime is properly documented
Responsible for the laying of the deep water section of 24” MEDGAZ marine pipeline using the S7000 J-Lay tower. • Engineering activities coordination in accordance with the contract specifications. Supervision and check of design activities performed by external companies to modify and upgrade the J-lay tower equipment. • Subcontractors’ management: writing of technical specifications, evaluation of offers, monitoring of subcontractor’s work progress, review of technical documentation and verification of the quality of the work performed. • Coordination of pipelay engineering activities performed by SAIPEM Croatia offices. • Preparation and review of project procedures, manuals and documents required for the execution of the works. • J-lay equipment, materials and vessels mobilization: preparation of detailed mobilization and testing/commissioning schedules. Supervision and coordination of the installation and testing activities on field and on board the S7000. • Laying operations management and supervision: coordination of activities on field and on board the lay vessel. Management of resources and equipment in order to fulfill the project targets. • Verification of the correct implementation of the project quality standards. • Demobilization activities: preparation of the as-Built documentation, financial closure of the local contracts and demobilization of the operative base.
