About

As a Full Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Naples Federico II, my professional mission is to bridge the gap between advanced research and clinical practice in the fields of pediatric gastroenterology and immunonutrition. My work is centered on understanding the molecular mechanisms of immunological tolerance and developing innovative nutraceutical solutions. I currently lead several multidisciplinary environments: Immunonutrition Lab: Focusing on the crosstalk between diet, gut microbiota, and the immune system. MeDiHealthLab: A hub for translational research in human nutrition and health. Pediatric Allergy Program: Committed to cutting-edge clinical management and therapeutic strategies for pediatric patients. Scientific Impact & Global Recognition My commitment to advancing science is reflected in over 550 international speaking invitations and numerous scientific awards. I have been recognized among the Top 100 Italian Scientists by VIA-Academy (since 2013) and included in the PLOS Biology list of the most influential international scientists. Institutional & Editorial Roles I serve as a dedicated member of several prestigious scientific societies, including the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and ESPGHAN. My expertise is frequently sought in high-level advisory capacities: EFSA Expert: Former member of the Expert Panel and the Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies Panel (2011–2015). Research Evaluator: I contribute as a reviewer for various national and international bodies, including the Italian Ministry of University and Research, the European Community, the National Institute for Health Research (UK), and numerous international science foundations. Global Collaboration I actively foster extensive research partnerships across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America, believing that international synergy is the key to solving the most pressing challenges in pediatric health and nutrition. Beyond research, I am deeply dedicated to education as the Chief of the Master’s degree in Human Nutrition and Food Science, where I strive to mentor the next generation of scientists.
