About

I am a nurse with 15 years of excellent clinical and academic experience, and held various administrative and non-administrative positions that developed my leadership capabilities, provided innovative programs to improve systems, and created avenues to empower people. I am specializing in the field of gerontology nursing and nursing education where my research interest are disaster resilience in the older persons, ageism, neurocognitive assessment, teaching gerontology and experiential learning. I rose from the ranks from being staff nurse to head nurse in the clinical setting, and from instructor to academic coordinator (assistant Dean in academic matters, research, review, accreditation and external relations) in the academic setting. I was also appointed to lead various committees, including the PAASCU accreditations committee on curriculum and instructions, faculty and student development, and the NOMELEC for the College Student Council, the College Appellate Board, and advisership for the Nightingale Society and the College Student Council. I am also one of the board members and the public relations officer of the Philippine Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology where during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was tasked to represent the organization in the Healthcare Professionals Alliance Against COVID-19 (HPAAC). Also, I am a member of the Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Gamma Chapter where I am a community volunteer and was invited to be member of different committees as a judge for prestigious awards. Recently, I was elected as one of the members of the House of Delegates of the Philippine Nurses Association. Also, chosen as a member of various government initiatives, between the Department of Health and the National Institutes of Health, including a member of the Consensus Panel for the Musculoskeletal Task Force of the Periodic Health Examination Clinical Practice Guideline (PHEX-CPG) and a member of the Technical Working Group in the Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) Topic Prioritization Project.
