I am a well-trained professional with extensive legal and non-profit experience. I currently manage the Tenancy Law Program and Rooming House Outreach Program for Peninsula Community Legal Centre. I exhibit strong leadership skills developed from managing a diverse team operating in a pressurised environment. I have a proven record of working with engaged stake holders, ranging from government departments, such as Consumer Affairs Victoria, to external agencies operating within the community. I also have experience presenting to both the public and private sector and enjoy making connections to foster mutual interests. I continue to advocate for an improved policy and legislative framework in matters affecting the community and look forward to shaping a better Victoria – a goal that will require the collaboration of the private and public sectors. A licensed solicitor in two countries, I am a professional with a unique set of skills driven to make positive changes in Victoria.
Lead a diverse team of lawyers, advocates, and outreach workers in the Centre’s tenancy and rooming house programs. Responsible for quarterly reporting to funding agencies. Liaison with government agencies and community partners. Provide regular policy submissions. Participate in the leadership and general management of the Centre.
Represent disadvantage members of the community in matters of residential tenancy, consumer, civil and criminal law. Conduct consultations, draft legal documents, and represent clients in the Victoria Civil & Administrative Tribunal and the Magistrates Court. Liaison with legal aid organizations and community agencies.
Responsible for the financial management and corporate governance of Ormond-McKinnon Community Enterprises Limited (OMCEL). In addition, I conducted community outreach on behalf of the bank, participated in sponsorship presentations, and engaged local businesses regarding their banking needs. OMCEL is a franchisee of Bendigo Bank, the industry leader in the Community Bank model.
Conducted Timeshare/Housing foreclosures and assisted in property law matters. Drafted legal documents, including End-of-Life documents, conducted legal research, and provided consultation in areas of Maryland law. Further practice areas included, construction ligation, landlord/tenant, probate, real estate, homeowners/condominium associations, and family law.
Served as in-house counsel, in addition to designing and implementing commercial insurance programs for variety of businesses and commercial ventures to include Worker’s Compensation, General Liability, Property, Auto, and specialty coverages.
Represented individuals and/or corporations in civil litigation, criminal defense, and family law proceedings. Negotiated and drafted settlement agreements. Administered estates and drafted wills. Maintained client relations and networked with local firms and organizations.
