Joint Assessment Division, JAD, Eglin AFB FL. Lead Computer Scientist for Joint Technical Branch of the Joint Staff J6 C5I under the command of the Joint Chiefs of Staff-J6(C4 & Cyber). Lead Computer Scientist is responsible for employing expert computer science methods and techniques to plan and carry out field analysis and assessment activities. To include but not limited to the following. Serves as the Division's senior computer science expert for the development of new or improved computer science methods, techniques, principles, and concepts. Serves as the computer scientist/computer engineering subject matter expert on IT related issues associated with data reductions and processing. Serves as the senior computer scientist/engineering in the organization on the application of computer engineering principles, practices, and techniques, representing the organization to external agencies in a deployed operational environment. Oversees all Technical Branch production assignments, milestones, projects, problems, actionable events, deadlines, and program issues under review. As ISSE under RMF policy responsible for all technical reviews, and advising the Branch Chief on all matters of Information assurance (IA). Assist the ISSM/ISSO with developing any systems security plans (SSP) and Approval to operate (ATO) packages for the systems/networks that JAD uses.
To evaluate, design, develop, modify, implement, and maintain operating systems compilers, diagnostic aids and other general purpose software for use in national large scale, mini and micro digital computers that are used for scientific/ engineering applications and workplace automation. Cisco router/switch L3/L2 configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooter. VLAN, IP Scheme development, Network design, and VOIP implementation to name a few duties. Network SME. SolarWinds Admin. Network Testing and Mock-up Lab manager. Eglin Enclave Information System Security Manager (ISSM) for Networks.
Install, configure, and support local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Monitor and test performance to ensure sites operate correctly and without interruption. Assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Identify risks and make recommendations to mitigate or resolve. Supervise computer support specialists and computer network support specialists. Administer network security audits and patching vulnerabilities.
