Houston, Texas, United States
Born in Brooklyn, New York and having lived in many places throughout my life, I made Houston my home in 2010. In my early years in Houston, I opened up a restaurant named The House of Gumbo. Later I sought an interest in the night club industry and had a successful night venue since 2016 until the pandemic. Due to the industry being non-essential, I was forced to shut down. At this time, is when I started reconsidering my purpose in life. The term “non-essential” did not sit well with me and I started regaining a new vision for my future. Prior to the pandemic, I was always conscious about living a positive life by being aware of my health, body, and mental state. My way of living catapulted me into creating a business to help my community be aware as well. District Market Green Grocer was born, where my motto is For the Community, By the Community. On Black Friday, November 26, 2021 the doors opened. The store gained notoriety when it began to be featured in several news outlets such as the Houston Chronicle, Fox 26 News, Channel 2 News, BET, Inside Edition, Official Black Wall Street and CBS Mornings just to name a few. The highlight of my new beginnings was when I was invited to the Ellen Show. District Market Green Grocer strives to provide a healthy lifestyle by changing what you put into your body. I strongly believe that what you consume affects your entire being. The store offers organic, vegan, natural and holistic products. If you ask me how I have so much insight into a healthy lifestyle I will tell you from research and self-practice. Our customers enjoy coming to the store to gain knowledge about how to make better choices to live a healthier life. If you ever have the honor of visiting the store, you will leave with a greater knowledge. My goal is to open more stores nationwide.
