Currently working for The Coal Authority as Assistant Tips Manager, based in South Wales. I have completed an MSc in Mining Engineering from the Camborne School of Mines. I previously worked as a logging geologist offshore for Halliburton after receiving a first class in BSc (Hons) Applied Geology from the Camborne School of Mines University of Exeter, where I won the JC Davey industrial geology prize.

    My main job roles are: • To assist the Principal Project Manager (Tips) with the inspection and management of colliery tip sites and to undertake property site inspections. • To undertake site inspections, compile reports, specify remedial and maintenance works, supervise contractors and consultants and liaise with statutory bodies and stakeholders. • To assist Regional Project Managers with their portfolio of tip, surface hazard and subsidence projects, primarily in South Wales but on occasion across all coalfield regions.

    I worked for Sperry Drilling services which is an industry leader in providing solutions for drilling wells safer, faster and more accurately. My main responsibilities were to: • Working in wellsite units collecting, processing, logging and analysing geological samples. • Using various laboratory techniques to evaluate detailed and complex data for signs of oil or gas. • Monitoring computer recordings of drilling activity. • Interpreting information and feeding it back to the drilling team to enhance safety and success. • Operating and maintaining a real-time computer-based data acquisition system, the advanced logging system (ALS), which records all aspects of rig activity. • Undertaking some on-site maintenance of remote sensors, knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. • Taking on the primary health and safety role for the well through constant monitoring of all critical drilling parameters using intelligent well monitoring systems. • Predicting dangerous situations, such as over-pressured formations. • Assisting the wellsite geologist during coring operations. • Reporting to the wellsite geologist and the oil company in written reports.
