Began painting lines on parking lots in 1984. Still busy doing that, but now my son, stepson, and one other employee do most of the work. Nowdays, I spend more time on gym floors, outdoor courts, and warehouse and factory floor markings. I can paint lines and graphics on high school gym floors, outdoor play grounds for elementary schools, and warehouse and distribution centers.

In the early days of the internet, I put up a web site for my parking lot striping business. Because it was the first and only source of info about line striping and pavement marking, I got a lot of email from people who found me through search. After many replies to questions about striping, I decided to make a web site for people in the industry and install a bulletin board system so they could post questions, answers, and comments about parking lot striping. I soon grew into the leading site for people in this industry. There are now over 2,600 registered members and lots of anon "lurkers". In order to help pay for the bandwidth, I started selling products used by pavement contractors. In 2009, I bought equipment and built a factory and began producing stencils for pavement contractors - the arrows, handicap, no parking, etc that you see on roads and in parking lots. I have given ownership of Parking Lot Planet to Craig Farley PhD. and I spend most working time painting gym floors, tennis courts, and warehouse floor lines. My son Rob runs the parking lot striping business, so I can concentrate of gym floors and advising the stencil manufacturing business. For 25 years, ending in 2006, I worked for Exxon, later ExxonMobil, as a maintenance foreman and later as a Regulatory Compliance technician. For the last 10 years I was with them, I dealt with regulatory agencies and set up systems to manage compliance with laws and regulations.
