About

Following 22 successful years at Microsoft, I have turned my attention from business success to broader social impact. In my new role as a “civic engineer,” I apply the strategic tools I learned during my years as the Chief Xbox Officer to the broader challenges we face in our communities. I also lecture at universities and conferences across the country and consult with civic and business organizations. In 2015, I published my first book “Xbox Revisited: A Game Plan for Corporate and Civic Renewal.” In 2021, I published my debut novel, "The Wilkes Insurrection," followed by the sequel thriller, "The Blockchain Syndicate" in 2025. I am a past-chair and continuing member of the board of the Bipartisan Policy Center and serve on the national board of governors for Boys and Girls Clubs of America, our local Boys and Girls Club board in Bellevue, WA, and the board of Habitat for Humanity International. I previously served as a board member of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Sonos Inc., Brooks Running Company, Magic Leap, Space Needle Inc., Year Up Puget Sound, and the Morehead-Cain Alumni Foundation. I am the co-owner of Manini’s, Inc., a gluten-free pasta and baking company.
