About

Born in Middelburg, the Netherlands. I obtained a masters degree in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Wageningen in 1984. The same year I obtained a bachelor’s degree (International) Political Science at University of Leiden. After working two years work experience at the University of Wagenigen I was accepted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where I have been employed since 1986. As a junior diplomat I was posted in different capacities in Tanzania, Italy, Belgium and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. My bilateral ambassadorial posting were in Iraq, Malta and Azerbaijan. As disarmament ambassador I was posted in Geneva.
