I've been teaching for over 20 years. In that time, I've sat across from hundreds of students who arrived convinced they "are useless at maths" and watched them leave with a grade they were proud of. A few years ago I started thinking about the students I couldn't reach. In a classroom I could help 30 people at a time but I wanted to do more. So I built Bow Tie Maths: a web app that generates I/GCSE practice questions across every topic, adapts to where a student is, and gives them something to work with independently whilst predicting their potential grade at the end of the course. I'm a solo developer on this and I built everything from the ground up before AI could do it all for me! I secured a scholarship for a Stanford University online course in machine learning because I believe that it can help students to identify the gaps in their knowledge and make it easier to find and close them. If you're a teacher, tutor, parent, or student or you're working on edtech and want to compare notes, I'd genuinely love to hear from you!
