I am a Multi-Instrumentalist, Composer, Producer, Performer, Writer, and Audio Afficianado. I write music, record music, perform music, and I am an all around "nice guy".
Life Gumbo is a project that I've been working on for the last 2 years. It is constantly evolving and expanding, but the premise is an autobiography and an accompanying musical score. My life, as many others, has had some magical, and tragic twists and turns. My amazing relationship with my son, is the catalyst for this project. He has always been extremely inquisitive, and asks a ton of questions. I have always answered those questions to the best of my ability, The ones I could not, or was not rwady, to answer were filed in my mind. This project has become my way of purging that data. It is the story of my life, mi vida loca, as told through the eyes of a father, with anecdotes, morals, and suggestions for him (and anyone else) to be used purely as a guide to the successes I've enjoyed, mistakes I've made, and tradgedies I've endured and overcome. It is also a gritty tell-all with the absolute truth contained within its pages.
Self-Promotion has been the only way for me to showcase my passion. I started small, with a ReverbNation profile. I expanded the profile to include a blog, numerous videos, a catalog of original music, performance schedules, a large fanbase, and extracted audio for videos. That evolved into 4 FaceBook pages, a YouTube channel with over 100 videos (some with 10k+ views), Music.ly, Instagram, Twitter, Fandalism, SoundCloud, Spotify, and a GoFundMe campaign. I am extremely proactive with these platforms and try to answer every comment promptly and try not to miss an opportunity to impart any helpful knowledge. I design, monitor, and maintain all platforms on my own.
I have always had a keen interest in all things technical. I started with electronic repairs on all of my instruments (because I did not want to pay anyone to do it), moved into analog recording of my material utilizing a 24 channel mixer, Alesis ADAT, and effects. I designed, hardwired, and soldered all of my my own connections (because I did not want to pay anyone to do it), and followed the technology wave into the digital domain, with an iMac, Cubase, Reason, and a Presonus A/D converter (because I did not want to pay anyone to do it). The material I produce is multitracked, and 90% of the parts are played or programmed by me. I collaborate with many musicians for variety on the remaining 10%.
I love to make people smile through music. I never miss a chance to jam with other kindred souls. If I do not have a structured gig, I'd play the NYC park or subway circuit. I am an IMPROV nut. I have a catolog of thousands of cover songs and originals that I can dial up for performances. For me, there is no substitute for this lifestyle, it's become an intregal part of me, and I am hopelessly addicted.
