Protea Chemicals (ZAR3,7billion FY2020), a division of Omnia Holdings (ZAR18,7billion turnover FY2020), procure and distribute chemical and other products in the South African market with the intent of growing into Africa and the global market. ►►►►OVERVIEW Report directly to the COO of Protea Chemicals, and manage 10 direct reports consisting of 9 Supply chain co-ordinators and 1 Supply Chain Systems support staff. Oversee activities and operations for 12 distribution centres across South Africa. Responsible for providing effective, cost-effective, efficient and compliant transport (air, road and sea) as well as third party bulk liquids operational support and controls. Involved in various cross-functional and cross-divisional collaborations, including sales and operations review meetings; OTIF (On-time-In-full) review meetings; and national safety forum meetings. Represent Protea Chemicals at CAIA (Chemical & Allied Industries’ Association), which supports Responsible Care, a global movement in more than 60 countries, and overseen by the International Council of Chemical Associations. ►►►►ACHIEVEMENTS • Successfully implemented a project to reduce third party transport expenses by 10% per annum. • Migrated the supply chain logistics team to MS Teams for improved collaboration and sharing of data and information. • Introduced formal KPI’s with regular performance management discussions with all subordinates. • Reduced risk to the business by ensuring each critical role has a back-up staff, in cases of unforeseen absenteeism. • Elected to represent affected Protea Chemicals staff members at the CCMA (The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration) during a national Organisational Redesign and subsequent staff retrenchment exercise.
►►►►OVERVIEW Reporting to General Manager: Operations and Supply Chain and responsible for managing 8 direct reports (two Plant Process Administrators, Stock Controller, three Plant Superintendents, Production Planner; Outbound Logistics Coordinator) and 55 indirect reports, while overseeing the daily production processes of the Wadeville production facility, including Solvents, Bulk Powders, Blending and Acid & Alkali tank farm. ►►►►ACHIEVEMENT • Instrumental in the design and roll-out of automated packaging facility for Acids & Alkalies.
