After continuous, progressive promotions, I was named Senior Director of Siemens Canada, reporting directly to the CEO; I served in this role for ten years. My responsibilities included implementing consistent program methodology for eight divisions across Canada, training and mentoring project managers, managing divisional coordinators, and establishing the limits of their authority. I collaborated with and advised the leadership at Siemens Germany, providing feedback on our standards, and led executive project reviews for our Canadian divisions. I was also selected as Head of Special Projects, including Product Life Cycle Management, and I chaired the Certification Review Board. Some selected accomplishments include: - Served as instructor for Siemens’s North America Learning Campus; developed/reviewed course materials. - Certified 60 project managers for Canada, running review boards for all eight divisions and mentoring candidates in preparation for the Review Board. - Spearheaded oil drilling project for multimillion dollar customer in Calgary. Resolved disconnect between customer and Siemens regarding project scope, resulting in very favorable resolution for all parties. - Formed/led team to investigate non-conformance cost issues and provided corrective actions.
In this role, I directed our innovative Top+ business improvement award program, overseeing the guidelines for various business units and departments and instructing all new employees on program expectations. I also partnered with Top+ high-performers to ensure regular identification and tracking of program measures. Some selected accomplishments include: - Pioneered program applications, handling support documentation and resolving Top+ Germany queries. - Oversaw Dematic/COM division divestures (2006), leveraging deep understanding of sales, marketing, information technology, financials, resources, infrastructure, and corporate support to develop former Siemens divisions into independent, sale-ready companies. - Resolved issues with Bruce Power Project regarding nuclear standards, real estate, change order management, purchasing, and quality control.
As Senior Manager, I held accountability for internal audits, resource optimization, and process improvement across various business units and corporate departments, following up to ensure all action items were quickly and successfully implemented. I evaluated processes in multiple systems, including AVPi, PUMA, PACT, and BIC, leveraging my system understanding to ensure that standards were enforced and savings were properly calculated. Some selected accomplishments include: - Identified $20M+ in profitability for Siemens Canada through data analysis and process oversight.
In this role, I directed the implementation of AVPi methodology across 18 plant and field locations in Canada, traveling extensively to ensure in-person oversight of the process improvements. I assessed and mitigated potential business risks and identified opportunities, reporting to both the corporate office and the divisions; I also implemented Corporate Development Audit recommendations throughout the IS division. Some selected accomplishments include: - Slashed division real estate cost by 50% (to $5M from $10M) through space optimization initiatives. - Increased division profitability by $18M+ over three years using German IS AVPi methodology.
