Presently, as Director of Engineering at Angel One, I lead high-performing team of engineers that build and manage applications for the mobile and desktop web platform. With about 15 years of experience in software engineering, I have a track record of delivering scalable, reliable, and user-friendly solutions for various domains, including FinTech/stock-broking, e-commerce, ERP, and SaaS.
· Primarily leading the (B2C) Storefront client engineering charter for the pharmaceutical, OTC and diagnostics business verticals – website and mobile native app experience that enables growth – acquisition, retention & alliances, improving conversion funnels – browse, search & discovery, checkout & transact and rendering post-sales customer services on the platform. Tech responsibility includes the Pharmeasy mobile app, the primary e-commerce website and ancillary web (customer support, order-on-call, franchisee/partner portal), BFF and back-end gateway services.
· Key product initiatives: Porting Postman native app to the web (https://web.postman.co/ and public workspaces: https://www.postman.com/explore) · Instrumented Postman native app to capture performance analytics that led to reducing app launch – cold start time significantly, removing obsolete code paths and in reducing app installer size.
Building customer self-serve flows on Myntra.com (read: orders/returns/exchange/alter interactions and more) including the contact-us/help-center capabilities, along with the complementing CRM backend - business processes management software and web services predominantly in the ERP domain with core focus on E-commerce, Supply chain business function. Also hold practical experience in designing and developing API gateway, scaling web apps and services, supplementing this through test infrastructure and deployment pipeline and shipping them on IaaS (AWS, NetMagic), PaaS(Azure Cloud) and SaaS (Flipkart's multi-tenant Agent Smart Assist) platforms. Been building web applications, targeting major form factors including desktop, tablet and various hand-held mobile devices with integrated OS/System based web-views. Managerial traits and inclinations: Effectively navigate team (intrinsic and extrinsic) dynamics to address ambiguity and conflicts. Thoughtful stakeholder management, AOP and quarterly roadmap planning, RIDA (Risk, Impedance, Dependency, Assumption) based program tracking. Follow a relaxed Scrum based Agile methodology. Managed 2 teams of engineers, direct and through an Engineering Manager. Additionally partnered with contractors/consultants for extended help in executing my charter plans.
As Eng. Manager, executing SCM ERP charter with a team of 10 engineers. The charter entails managing suites of ERP web apps catering to SCM Outbound business functions: Order taking and fulfilment, Warehouse & Inventory management, Logistics & shipment lifecycle and CRM systems. Key wins include : Complete overhauling of disparate CRM systems into an all-in-one software suite which greatly cuts down on Average Handling Time, management costs, among other metrics. Revamped interfaces in logistics workflow activities in shipment operations such as trip lifecycle, bag/container lifecycle among others. As a part of this project, removed obsolete workflows, introduced better system instrumentations, mobile form factor support, fast tracked software feature development leading to overall improvement and greater visibility into logistical metrics across the board.
As a tech lead, architected a custom web framework based on React eco-system on front end, Nodejs eco-system with MySQL, Redis for our API gateway tier. Decommissioned the legacy SCM ERP portal and ported them on to this new tech stack. API gateway layer acts as orchestrator over the SOA based federated core services managed by individual internal SCM business vertical. Key wins in this tenure were: Successful adoption of my new framework across SCM tech. Revamped Warehouse management system UI, leading to increased Ops throughput with improved UX. Landed last mile consolidation suite of apps seamlessly with 100% adoption in all warehouses. Launched new outbound order fulfillment user interfaces with refined controls on key attributes consumed at warehouse facilities. Mentored my peers to nurture and help them gain confidence in their hold on tech know-hows.
· Primarily focused on logistics operations at Opinio, that entailed building Point-Of-Sales software, ERP suite to manage logistical fleet, the supply chain operations and kitchen inventory management. · Lead a team of 5 engineers until the company was acquired by CureFit.
