  • Researcher at Cambridge Institute for Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease
    Jul 2025 - Sep 2025 · 3 mos

I undertook a 2 month project, where I was awarded two scholarships, one from the Lister Institue, the other from Gonville and Caius Medical Association, exploring the oxygen-dependent post-translational stabilisation of MXD family proteins under hypoxia. This involved molecular biology skills including: PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, Plasmid Assembly, Restriction Digests and Sanger Sequencing. This also involved cellular biology skills including: E. Coli Plasmid Transduction, Lentiviral Transfection and HeLa Cell Line Transformation (involving practice in aseptic tissue culture rooms) Finally, analytical skills were also developed in: Flow Cytometry, Western Blotting and SDS-PAGE, bioinformatics and comparative biology. This culminated in experiments run in hypoxia chambers, providing the novel discovery that these proteins are stabilised in hypoxia.
