I am a sophomore dual degree student at Northwestern University majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Radio/Television/Film (RTVF). I am interested in bridging STEM and the arts through my studies as an engineer and filmmaker, and also have a strong passion for aerospace.
• Serve on executive team of NU’s only animation club, collaborate with members to create animated short film • Produce & oversee entire soundscape for production, organize SFX & Voice Acting resources for members • Assist with scriptwriting, music production, voice acting/auditioning, and education in sound design workflows
• Design and integrate live onboard video system for 10,000-ft rocket competing in the 2026 IREC • Engage with members on CAD, design, manufacturing, integration, and testing of camera, RF transmission, battery power, arming mechanism, and cooling system to transmit live video from rocket to ground station during flight • Collaborate with team leads in hardware selection and design, present progress in design reviews • Successfully obtaining live feed in test launches to provide valuable real-time monitoring of the rocket launch, payload deployment, and recovery
• Photographed with both film & digital cameras with focus on natural subjects • Won multiple regional awards for photographs • Founded Instagram photography account @alexriemann photography • Digitizing a historical film photo collection from great-grandfather
• Combined engineering and artistic interests in writing, directing, producing, filming, and editing several Lego StopMotion Films • Partnered with Edwards Flight Test Museum to create technically and historically accurate brickfilm. To be played as part of a permanent exhibition • Used programs such as Boris FX, Adobe Premiere, Filmora9, Garageband, and StopMotion Studio Pro • Engineered custom “virtual background” setup using TV & practical models to achieve ultra-realistic lighting • Created personal sound database >15GB in size, including custom sound effects/foley • Founded YouTube channel @Alex Riemann, gaining hundreds of thousands of views across over 50 videos
Collaborated with IT Team to redesign all charts/graphs for streamlined office workflow. Processed all cases from 2021 calendar year to generate yearly “death report”
