Dr Ricky Gee is an Associate Professor based at Nottingham Trent University. Ricky has a range of experiences within HE including research, pedagogy and course leadership. Ricky based his 3 year tenure as course leader of the BA Sociology degree - which has a focus upon public sociology - upon the principles of collegiality and collectivity so as to gain headline results. During this time the course saw improvements in recruitment (NTU becoming the biggest recruit in Sociology in the country), student results, graduate employabilty, gaining excellent external examiner feedback with an average NSS result of 89% student satisfaction. Ricky is an outward facing academic that works collaboratively with a range of organisations to share his sociological expertise, whether this is with: - De Paul University (Chicago); promotion of on-line 'global conversations', - Capabilities in Academic Policy Engagement (CAPE) initiative looking into 'Good Work' in the Borough of Islington, - Nottingham Citizens, projects exploring fair pay in Nottingham - British Sociological Association Applied Sociology group; involved in the construction of an applied curriculum in sociology sent to every HE course leader in the country - Sheffield Hallam University, external examiner BA Sociology Ricky's particular research interest is exploring sociological dimensions of career - where career is to be viewed as any social strand in a person's life.
