Chartered (MIStructE) and Conservation Accredited (CARE) structural engineer with vast experience, specialising in heritage projects. I look after the structures of historic buildings, preserving them for the future generations to come. Key services of my work comprise: • Appraisal of existing structures, ranging from lime mortar masonry to cast-iron frames and from timber frames to stone slabs. • Review of historic data, understanding authenticity and significance, and identifying potential former interventions undertaken • Advise on investigative surveys (non-intrusive when possible), monitoring, and inspections to identify causes of deterioration / damage to the fabric • Strategic advice on extending or changing the use of old buildings • Design of repairs, sympathetic to the historic fabric • Design of significant structural interventions, being reversible when appropriate Recent project I have been involved in include: • Harrow School: Old Schools (Grade I), Medical Centre (Grade II), Head Master’s House (Grade II), Bessborough Pavilion and others • St Albans Cathedral (Scheduled Ancient Monument) • Theatre Projects: Theatre Royal Brighton (Grade II*), Ambassadors Theatre London (Grade II), New Wimbledon Theatre (grade II) • Lowestoft Town Hall (Grade II) • Crystal Palace Park (Grade II*) • Various private residences (Grade II/II*), varying from £0.5m to £20m in value
Working on / overseeing of projects, whilst also being involved in the day-to-day running of the practice. Further responsibilities comprise; • Driving development of technical skills & knowledge within the office • Professional development of (junior) staff & managing the CPD programme • Implementing and maintaining QA standards
