Lexington, Kentucky, United States
I'm an Ole Geezer who used to be on here with loads of connections. Most were just "Connections". This time around the "Ole Geezer" will take a different approach. I look at life as a "Journey". This time around I'll share more of what my "Journey" has taught me. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I have two grandsons that I live for. I'll share tidbits of our interactions along the way. They, like Pop, love the outdoors and share a love for fishing. I'm a VET,USCG. I come from a family of VETS, I love the USA, and what she stands for. My goal for the remainder of my "Journey" is to leave a better world behind for the two young guys in my profile picture, Logan & Bo. I have ZERO interest in Whatsapp, investing with a person I don't know, or anything related to Bitcoin, ForeX, or any other type of currency exchange.
I started with Meridian at an entry level position to get my foot in the door in 2011. After a year in that position I advanced into the Chief Engineer position that I held for about 8 years. My Project Manager, Mike Wiley, left after 14 years to take a facilities management position with the city of Lexington. Mike is a great guy that I still have contact with. We taught each other a lot in our years together. When Mike moved on I decided I would take his position as the facilities manager here at the Fayette County Courthouses. It's been a long year for sure with COVID and the challenges associated with the pandemic. I will always remember the person who gave this older employee a chance, Robin Davidson. I will always be indebted to this fine lady.
Served as the Master Control Tape Supervisor for years before moving into the Director of Studio Engineering position when Jess Holbrook retired. I had moved to KET from the University of Kentucky. My father warned me to not move. I should have followed his advice. Never let job change be about the money.
At UK I was a Jack of All Trades, Master of None. I repaired things that had electronics. I shot and edited video for classroom use for teacher training. A job I loved, but decided to leave for higher pay with the state of Kentucky. A choice I soon regretted. Never let employment be about a pay raise.
First real job I ever had. Traveled around the country to various central office telephone installations assisting with the front end wiring. Had the privilege of working with some very interesting people that changed some ways how I though about people at that time in my journey.
