Experienced digital education leader with a demonstrated 18-year history of success in digital publishing. Skilled in strategic direction, process improvement, team building, team management, vendor management, product management, large-scale budgeting, technology implementation, digital production, audio production, eLearning, management training, instructional design, user experience, writing, and editing.
As Director of Digital Publishing I direct internal and external teams toward a common vision and provide them with the leadership, resources, and funding needed to accomplish it. This includes building cross-project teams, leveraging core competencies, allocating resources, streamlining processes, establishing organizational effectiveness, setting professional, behavioral, and financial goals, and creating a road map that enables us to accomplish them.
I created and managed the Interactive Media division for Digital Production Management under Pearson Learning Services. During my time in that position, I managed a large team of operations managers, audio engineers, and producers, both onsite and off, as well as 70+ contingent workers through multiple vendors with whom I formed long-term strategic alliances and partnerships. I also budgeted and was responsible for internal and external costs for multi-million dollar, large-scale eLearning projects. This included negotiating vendor pricing and standardizing processes for a wide range of digital productions.
As a Senior Producer at Pearson, I led a team of other producers, production assistants, audio engineers, developers, quality assurance specialists, freelancers, contractors, and vendors to create and assemble a wide variety of large-budget, interactive, digital publishing projects.
As Managing Editor, I helped set the voice and tone of our products and ensured that the work of others followed our guidelines and met our standards. I also provided other writers and editors with advanced editorial guidance and worked closely with our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure our aims hit the mark.
After writing for the town paper in Wilmington, NC, I secured a writing position with Corpedia, LLC in Phoenix, AZ where I researched and wrote professional development, legal compliance, and strategic management products and courseware for post-graduate higher education. I then became the editor for our other writers, providing them with support and editorial direction. I also learned to cast talent, conduct and edit voice-over sessions, and direct video shoots for many of our products.
