Providing leadership and management to the JPL Division of 335 employees responsible for the development, implementation, and operation of JPL’s IT infrastructure. The division maintains the core infrastructure that enables the success of JPL’s flight projects and technology tasks. Responsible for service delivery model which spans an in-sourced and outsourced support model. Partner with other leaders within organization to ensure our current environment is stable and meets the needs of the JPL community, but ensure that our strategy includes emerging technologies to enable future success. Provide IT Infrastructure strategy as part of larger lab IT strategy as we plan for JPL 2025-2030. Accountable for JPL Cyber Security Program. Provide strategic and operational direction – including but not limited to vulnerability and threat management, compliance, security awareness and training, risk assessment, identity and access management and data analytics. Provide insight and thought leadership for all other activities associated with Cyber Security. Partner with NASA, DHS and laboratory’s executive management to established risk posture and governance. Ensure that Cyber Security enables the success of JPL’s flight projects and technology tasks while protecting JPL.

The area of responsibility includes: Key Results: * Successfully re-organized Division reducing management team from 17 managers down to 9. * Technical advisor for re-compete of 10 year IT Support contract valued at $20 million annually. * Added San Diego Super Computing as a resource for public data supercomputing. * Operationalized our support models for both AWS and GovCloud hosting * Addition of co-location through SuperNap in Las Vegas to allow for DR/BCP of critical JPL services. * OCIO representative on Executive Policy Committee
Role of Western Operations Manager responsible for San Diego and Pearl Harbor Network Operations Centers supporting over 470,000 users on the Navy Marine Corp Internet project. My team was responsible for supporting two Network Operations Centers, two Security Operations Centers, eleven large data centers, nine small data centers, 3000+ remote sites and Service Desk. Support team staffed 24/7/365. * Implemented trending analysis of system alerts and outages to assist in proactive resolution of issues and root cause analysis. * Introduced new procedures, policies and metrics that improved our ability to meet availability SLA’s. * Successfully implemented new outage tracking process and configuration management procedures. Transferred this information to the CMDB improving risk and impact assessment for Operations team. * Implemented customer survey to uncover opportunities for continual process improvement. * After first six months in role was able to reduce ticket aging by 50%, increased average tickets processed by 117%, and resolved 84% more tickets than the prior six months. * Implemented career roadmap to parallel Individual Development Plans. Successfully mentored twelve employee’s promotion to the next position on their roadmap. * Managed Enterprise Physical Inventory team for Sarbanes Oxley compliance. * Responsible for support of users worldwide.
