As Chief Executive of The APP Group Major Projects Division & APP Group Shareholder, Richard led a team of Property & Infrastructure professionals across Australia & New Zealand which was successfully sold to French top 40 listed Bureau Veritas in November 2024. Following this successful exit, Richard is now focussed on private investments, NED roles, and providing business sales, mergers & acquisitions and Infrastructure advice on a part-time basis. Previously, Richard was the Founder & CEO of Infrastructure Nation (IN) a specialist International Infrastructure Project, PPP and Transport Advisory company operating in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK. Following significant success advising and delivering some of the world's largest Infrastructure Projects for governments and Tier 1 private sector consortiums, IN partnered with private equity company Five V Capital and in September 2021 became a wholly owned independently managed subsidiary company of APP Corporation before the companies consolidated into The APP Group in July 2023. Prior to founding Infrastructure Nation, Richard was Executive General Manager of John Holland Group and Managing Director of John Holland Rail. With annual revenue of in excess of $2Bn in Rail, John Holland was the largest Railway construction, maintenance and services provider in Australia and one of the largest in the world. Responsible for the delivery of Major Rail Infrastructure Projects across Australia & NZ as well as offshore interests including a number of large-scale railway operating contracts including Metro Trains Melbourne, Sydney Metro, Canberra Light Rail and NSW Country Regional Network. Richard joined John Holland in 2005 and was a driving force of John Holland’s continued growth in the Rail Sector and held numerous positions on various PPP, Joint Venture and Alliance Boards, including founding member (2012-2016) and Chairman of the MTR, JHG, UGL, Leighton consortium building the $4.5 Billion OTS package of the Sydney Northwest Metro. Richard's achievements stem from more than 30 years’ experience in the Railway & Civil Infrastructure Industries, throughout Australia and overseas. Richard was Programme Director of Network Rail’s Scottish Regions Renewals Division between 1999 and 2005. Prior to 1999, Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and held various positions in private contractors in the Rail and Oil and Gas sectors. Richard’s drive, vision and passion are what make him one of the significant leaders of the rail & infrastructure industry in Australia.
