About

I have 20+ years of executive experience in non-profit, foundation, and higher education administration. I also have substantial Board management and membership experience. I have served as a Chief Advancement Officer and launched/managed fundraising campaigns exceeding three-quarters of a billion dollars in combined goals. My experience includes time served as a Computer Systems Analyst and IT Department Director. I am a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program at Cornell University, an Executive Fellow with Adventist Healthcare, a graduate of the Millennium Leadership Initiative via the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and a graduate of “Leadership Maryland.” I have a Master's and Doctorate in Education, as well as a Bachelor's in Information Systems Management. I have served as an Adjunct Instructor teaching in the area of effective use of technology in 21st Century Schools. Associated with my technology background, I Led efforts that resulted in the designation of Bowie State University’s (BSU’s) first signature STEM experiential learning program referred to as EI2 (i.e., the Education Innovation Initiative), and provided leadership for Bowie State University’s cybersecurity partnership with the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and the UMBC Training Centers. Also associated with my technology background, I served on the State of Maryland’s Cybersecurity Workforce Development Task Force. Additional educational and foundation experience includes success with community, state, and federal relations; building administrative infrastructure and systems; managing budgets and financial resources; leadership in various-sized, diverse higher education institutions; participation in successful reaffirmation of accreditation efforts; and playing leadership roles in community-related economic development matters in connection with the University at Buffalo, Howard University, Elizabeth City State University, Bowie State University, and the City of Bowie.
