Using a TF20 FEG I worked with Cancer Research samples that included many Types of the disease in the form of tumors, xenografts, Animal Models, Cell and Tissue Cultures as well as many different types of Macromolecules. I was instrumental in working with and helping develop the (Teneo) VolumeScope SEM. Worked with FEI helping to guide critical Hardware & Software requirements to best fit Life Science Customer needs.

In my Dual role as PME for Life Sciences I supported all Life Sciences applications in the US, Canada and Mexico giving Sales Presentations for instruments from 120kV TEMs to TF20s, Polara, Krios and Artica to SEMs to SDB Applications Monthly. I did off site demonstrations on customer tools for new sales prospects. Penetrated the Pharma market with the First TF20 Cryo TEM in the US. I supported meeting all over the US and in Canada. As Sr. Apps Engineer I trained well over One Hundred people in CryoTEM. I trained users on the Morgagni, T120, T20s, TF20s and Polara focusing on High End Users and High Resolution Data Acquisition in CryoEM. I did Customer witnessed Acceptance Tests on Site and in the Factory for TF20s and Polara. As needed I helped FSEs update tool Software and Hardware. I also Demonstrated & updated / modified SW as requested by FEI for Customers.

  • Research Specialist / Laboratory Manager at Howard Hughes Medical Institute

Working for Nobel Laureate Joachim Frank was an opportunity to learn the most up to date information available about CryoTEM. Also the atmosphere for exploration and discovery was open to all of us so that my position as RS / LM allowed me freedom to tune the TF20 to get the best Single Particle Information available from a 200 kV tool. This data was used in the Computational Biology & Molecular Imaging Center to visualize Macromolecules, Ribosomes and Cell Ultrastructural components. Of the 14 PhD Students and Post Docs I trained, 6 went on to head their own Labs in the US and around the World. I had the opportunity to work with and make recommendations to FEI while they developed the Tecnai Tomography Hardware, Software and Computer systems.
