It's two years now since that memorable day when my formal stockbroking life ceased. It was all terminated when some wise gurus decided on a new you-beaut model of stockbroking that didn't include specific equities analysis. Needless to say the firm no longer exists. After 40 years in the equities market it was time for a change. What now to amuse myself? After an interlude of self indulgence I was approached to stand in as a finance manager at White Ribbon Australia, a not-for-profit involved in combating men’s violence against women. Two years in and I’m still at White Ribbon. I have moved on from finance (the original, more efficient incumbent having returned) to embrace more esoteric roles like risk management, financial analysis and strategy, which amazingly enough my previous life has equipped me to do with some degree of capability. The not-for-profit space and White Ribbon in particular is a whole new world where one faces stark reality, full on, day by day. The weekly murder of a woman by her partner, not to mention the daily physical abuse of women and girls perpetuated by male family members and partners are issues that White Ribbon continually confronts. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss White Ribbons activities, in particular the relevance of the workplace program to your organisation, as well as seeking corporate philanthropic support for our activities. I can be contacted by email at [email protected] or phone 0290458414.
LINWAR specialised in analysing small to medium cap stocks. Within this framework I was responsible for property, development and AREIT stocks. In prior lives I have covered a number of sectors across the market cap spectrum including media and diversified industrial. In a more euphoric market I also covered gold stocks!!
