The PJH Group is a leading supplier of bathrooms, kitchens and appliances to the home improvement market. It services independent retailers, house builders and multiple retailers (i.e. B&Q, Screwfix and Homebase). In addition to the provision of products we operate a national home delivery service ensuring customers get their products delivered direct to their home. PJH has an annual turnover in excess of £100m and is part of Globe Union group.
Accountable for all Warehouse and Logistics operations within the UK for our portfolio of products covering bathrooms, kitchens and appliances. Accountable for the provision of a top class delivery service for our customers to both the home and store through the management of 4 distribution centres, a transport fleet of circa 100 vehicles, a dedicated contact centre and 500+ staff. In addition I remain accountable for the provision of IT services for the whole of our European business.
Responsible for all IT services within the European business. In addition to this I was accountable for all marketing activity (both online and offline) and for the day to day trading of our B2B, B2C and Marketplace web-sites.
2007 - 2011: Head of IT Service Management Responsible for all of our IT Services (mainframe, midrange, operations, desktop and data/voice networks) along with Applications support. Key target was to reduce the cost of the operation whilst maintaining / improving service levels. 2006 - 2007: Head of IT Client Management Responsible for a dedicated client management function within IT charged with delivering a clear alignment between the business strategy and the IT roadmap. 2004 - 2006: Lead Applications Manager (UK Logistics) Responsible for the IT function servicing the Parcelnet (now Hermes) Logistics business along with the UK Warehouse operations. The key project in this area was implementing a new bespoke logistics solution. This included hand held scanning of parcels, track and trace functionality, client invoicing/payment and administration of the courier network. 2003 - 2004: Lead Applications Manager (Merchandising) Accountable for all Merchandising systems. Key project was around the integration of 2 legacy Merchandising systems.
Worked as a management consultant across a number of projects including; Implementation of strategic category management with achieved benefits of £36m for a major high street retailer. Design and development of an Internet site targeted to drive sales for a leading utilities company. Technology consultant for a major DIY retailer looking at workflow and extranet technology as part of a large mergers and aquisition project. Cost Reduction project at at a major high street opticians.
1998 - 2000: Senior Project Manager 1996 - 1998: Project Manager 1994 - 1996: Team Leader 1990 - 1994: Senior Analyst Programmer / Analyst Programmer 1986 - 2000: Computer Operations and Supplier Management Roles For the last 2 years at Boots I worked alongside KPMG Consulting on a major cost reduction exercise in our manufacturing business. I led 2 work-streams looking at reducing the costs in our Product Development and Quality Assurance processes. This project delivered savings of circa £30m. Prior to this I did a number of IT roles involving the implementation of 3rd party software packages; MFG/Pro (Manufacturing) Oracle Financials (Purchasing, Accounts Payable and GL) I also worked on numerous bespoke development projects in areas such as Finance, Purchasing and Product Development in addition to being part of the Graduate Development programme.
