With more than 23 years of professional yachting experience I am currently seeking a permanent Captain position aboard a 40m+ motor or sailing vessel. Cruising many of the world’s most beautiful destinations, completing numerous ocean passages and a circumnavigation, I have gained considerable experience in safe passage planning, yacht and crew management. My refit and new build management, sailing knowledge, professionalism and understanding of owner and guest requirements enable me to create innovative charters and itineraries that exceed all expectations. I bring a lifelong passion for racing, from dinghies aged 5, to top-level international regattas. With technical knowledge and skills derived from rigging, refit experience and more recently as a new build Captain, I have the ability to run, manage and Captain yachts to their full potential without compromising safety. I very much look forward to joining a professional yacht where I can provide our owners and guests with the most enjoyable possible cruising experiences.
Captain private motor yacht cruising the USA East Coast, Mexico and the Caribbean. Along with multiple guest trips I took care of the daily running and safety of the vessel, upkeep and maintenance of ISM compliance and accounts.
This private yacht has been very busy cruising over 6,000nm in the Caribbean, Med, Holland, Norway and Svalbard with up to 12 crew and 10 guests. In addition to managing the daily running and safety of the vessel, ISM compliance and accounts, I also took care of passage planning and deliveries. We undertook a large refit at Royal Huisman in 2015/2016 for extensive engine room work, upgrading hotel services, repainting, varnishing, deck replacement, complete mast and spars repaint and overhaul change to the EC6 rigging.
During these 8 months I was brought in as Build Captain working alongside the owner’s team, responsible for ensuring project (RHS 392) was fully operational and sea ready. This included overseeing and documenting the build process, commissioning, compiling ISM and procedures, hiring all crew, getting the boat operational and completing sea trails and a final handover to the new permanent Captain. Following the shakedown trip to Norway and subsequent Med delivery, I completed the owner’s maiden voyage and managed the first warranty / shipyard period based in Palma. Overall we cruised more than 4,000nm with up to 8 guests and 7-10 crew.
Cruising New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia, South Pacific and Central America, we covered over 30,000nm with up to 10 guests and 8-12 crew. I took care of the daily running and safety of the vessel, upkeep and maintenance of ISM compliance and accounts. This included passage planning and deliveries, as well as overseeing a general maintenance period in New Zealand.
Following an Atlantic crossing we cruised the Caribbean with up to 12 owners and charter guests and a crew of 10. In addition to creating charter itineraries and taking care of charter administration I oversaw the daily running and safety of the vessel, maintenance of ISM compliance and accounts including passage planning and deliveries. We also hosted a brokers party and undertook viewings in St Barths.
