The Operations Department in Banco de España is a team of 145 people. The department implements the monetary policy operations attributed to Banco de España in its capacity as a central bank and member of the Eurosystem (from asset purchases to financing operations), as well as management of the foreign exchange reserves, gold and euro-denominated financial assets owned by Banco de España. The department also provides financial services to central banks and public institutions (e.g., organize auctions in the primary market). Finally, the department also monitors and analyzes financial markets to give support to the decision bodies of Banco de España.
Give support to the Operations Department, DG Operations, Markets and Payment Systems, as well as the Top Management in Banco de España. Preparation of the agenda of international meetings (ECB and BIS), position notes, speaking-notes and speeches. Research Analysis and Intelligence of financial markets and intermediaries, as well as the monetary policy implementation. Publication and difussion of the research and analysis to the academy, industry and overall society.
Research on the extraction of economic information from financial markets. Construction of Inflation Expectations indicators for LatAm countries. Contribution to the Regional Economic Outlook of America.
