I wrote a national qualification before most people knew VCSE existed. Not because I was commissioned to from the top, but because I was in the classroom watching learners study courses that had almost nothing to do with where the creative industries were actually heading. So I've spent the last year working with Agored Cymru to author a Foundation/Level 1/Level 2 VCSE and a Level 3 in Creative Media Production and Technology. Qualifications that include AI literacy, esports production, audio engineering, cinematography, and games development, because those are the skills Wales needs, and they weren't anywhere in the qualification landscape. First teaching begins September 2026. I sat on a board to help make sure it happens properly. That's the thread that connects everything I do. I'm an assistant headteacher at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni, Wales' largest Welsh-medium comprehensive, where I lead on timetabling, transition, and learning pathways across two sites. I've spent over a decade teaching computer science and digital technology from Year 7 to Year 13, entirely through the medium of Welsh. I've served as Chair for Eduqas GCE Computer Science, Principal Moderator for WJEC Digital Technology, Computer Science and Information Communication Technology and contributed to the Subject Level Working Group that redesigned GCSE qualifications for Wales in 2025. I've authored WJEC publications that are still in use across Welsh and English schools today. I've led esports in Welsh education, winning the Welsh Cup for schools and colleges, representing Wales at the HADO World Cup, and building the first formally assessed esports units into a Welsh awarding body qualification. I'm a non-executive director at Agored Cymru, where I help shape the strategic direction of Welsh qualification development. Outside education: I run Sai Sports (sportswear for Welsh teams and schools) and Ymolchi Grooming, because building things from scratch is something I do in every context. If you're working on qualification development, digital education strategy, Welsh-medium curriculum, or bringing esports and creative media into formal learning, I'm worth a conversation. 📩 Connect here, or reach me at [email protected]
Contributing to strategic governance of one of Wales' four national awarding organisations at a defining moment for Welsh qualification reform. Bringing active classroom perspective and qualification authorship experience to board-level decisions, a rare combination that bridges the gap between policy development and delivery. Key contribution: Authored the Level 2 VCSE and Level 3 qualifications in Creative Media Production and Technology, the first creative media qualifications of their kind in Wales for 14-16, Post-16 and FE learners, with first teaching September 2027 and 2026 respectively.
Founded and run a Welsh-language direct-to-consumer grooming brand from scratch, handling brand identity, product curation, digital marketing, and customer experience independently. Building something from nothing, in Welsh, for a Welsh audience, is a thread that runs through everything I do.
Strategic lead for timetabling, transition, and learning pathways across Wales' largest Welsh-medium comprehensive school, serving learners across two sites. Responsible for designing and managing the options and transition process for Year 9→10 and Year 11→post-16 across the full school cohort. Designed and implemented the whole-school timetable annually, balancing curriculum requirements across two sites, Welsh-medium provision, and post-16 pathways. Led whole-school digital transformation as technology lead, overseeing systems including SIMS, HWB, Google Workspace, ClassCharts, and the school's public and staff/learner digital infrastructure. Drove the school's self-evaluation framework (MA1.3 and 3.2) during ESTYN preparation, contributing to the school's successful exit from category. Led on branding, marketing, and the school's public-facing communication strategy. Founded the school's esports programme in 2019, developing it from an after-school club into a curriculum-integrated pathway and Welsh Cup-competing team.
Led the Computer Science, Information Technology, and Digital Technology department at Wales' largest Welsh-medium school. Drove the Digital Competence Framework across the school and developed a cross-curricular approach to digital literacy that has informed the school's technology strategy to the present day.
