Responsible for the operational management of a team of Compliance Advisors in an insurance MGA. My key responsibilities include: •Line management through coaching and performance management. I hold regular one to ones to support team members, and use the sessions to identify new goals and any potential learning and development needs. •Work flow management and overseeing a wide range of routine regulatory tasks, ensuring any work carried out adhere to quality standards and are delivered in accordance with both company and regulatory deadlines. •Management of numerous compliance activities within my team, including but not limited to policy reviews, oversight of the Company's Gifts and Hospitality register and Conflict of Interest Reporting •Engagement in the recruitment and selection process through reviewing CVs and holding interviews with candidates. Once selected I'm responsible for the induction process for new starters on my team •Management of the Company's agency processes, including processing new applicants and ongoing screening of existing agents. This includes reviews of TOBAs, Delegated Authority Agreements and oversight of Appointed Representatives. •Financial Crime reporting, I have set up KYC and sanctions screening processes to ensuring proper controls are in place to monitor compliance with financial crime regulations. •Compiling and submitting regulatory reports to the FCA throughout the year. •Acting as a primary referral point for escalated queries and liasing with other business areas to resolve those queries. This involves providing Compliance advice to various different areas of the business. •Continuous development of departmental processes by reviewing existing processes and considering opportunities to improve the efficiency and quality of work carried out by the department. •Contribution to the Company's wider regulatory initiatives, by assisting in the planning of meeting new regulatory guidelines such as the FCA's Consumer Duty.
My role as a Compliance Advisor included advising the wider company on regulatory matters, and carrying out tasks to support the Company's Compliance function by ensuring regulatory requirements affecting the insurance industry were being met. Some of my key responsibilities included: •Assisting in the agency process by processing new agency applications, and responding to agency related queries. •Researched new regulations, primarily from the FCA and the ICO and assisting in keeping key stakeholders informed of any new piece of regulation which may impact the business. •Handled routine queries from both internal and external stakeholders. •Both lead and assisted in the delivery of internal process audits, including planning, execution and reporting. A key objective of the audits was risk analysis, to understand and evaluate risks within our current company processes, and to offer recommendations for risk reduction and continuous improvement. •Advising areas of the business on data protection and GDPR matters, including processing data subject access requests in line with ICO requirements. •Conducted routine Compliance monitoring, including additional auditing, quality checking, and sanctions checking.
• Produced risk and compliance reports on new service proposals, mainly documenting my considerations in relation to applicable local and international regulations (Including SEC and FRC rule sets), and concluding on the permissibility of the proposed services from an audit independence perspective. This would ultimately decide whether a new service could be provided by the firm • Liaised with portfolio managers throughout compiling compliance reports, and conducted research through checking regulatory guidance and liaising with local teams. As many of my clients are FTSE 100 companies with a global reach, this would often involve arranging skype meetings with managers from various jurisdictions to discuss local regulatory issues. • Completed quarterly and annual compliance checklists that track the firms’ compliance with regulatory requirements such as those of the SEC, and to meet client-servicing requirements. • Investigated and resolved ad-hoc queries relating to my area of expertise from senior stakeholders within the firm • I’m responsible for the training of new team members, this includes creating PowerPoint presentations, hosting various training sessions, and providing on-going support such as providing feedback on their work on an on-going basis. Additionally, I occasionally cross-trained within department to share knowledge with other teams.
Working as a case handler for PPI mis-sale complaints, my primary responsibilities consisted of: • Responsible for end-to-end assessments of commercial credit card complaints. • Liaised with Claims Management Companies and customers to ensure all relevant information had been gathered before completing an assessment of a complaint, and deciding on outcome. • Responded to queries from the FCA, and compiled FCA reports • Completion of case reviews in line with TCF frameworks. • Strict target driven environment; SLA’s were always adhered to. • SME responsibilities to ensure new employees had adequate support during their probationary period.
A short contract working in car finance, my primary role as an underwriter was to make decisions on new car finance applications received by the business. This role included: • Taking a holistic approach in order to provide a rationale, and make a decision that was both fair to the customer and the needs of the business • I had additional responsibilities in this role where I would occasionally help teams who were seeing high volumes of work. This included a funding role where I would assess finance documents from car dealerships before releasing the appropriate finance. • Analysing documentation from the point of sale and checking we had all the necessary and required information before releasing funds. • Providing telephony support during busy periods, answering queries from an array of customers including retail customers and dealership managers
