Experienced executive that is expert at leading organizations through business transformations within the Manufacturing Industry. I am passionate about delivering improved business performance through Industry 4.0 and IT/OT strategies. Throughout my career, I have worked with global industry leaders in product development, manufacturing, software, and cloud to push the state of the possible through alignment of process and technology. I have been successful in enterprise level product development and manufacturing transformations leading both the consulting as well as the transforming organizations. Manufacturing industry transformations include Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Sector PDM/ERP implementation; Lockheed Martin Virtual Product Development Initiative (VPDI), Bombardier PDM/ERP implementation, Chrysler FastCar, and Toyota "Immersive PDM". I learned the practice of digital transformation by leading the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Product Data Management group where we defined the future state of the integration between product development and manufacturing with concepts such as a "build-to-package". My experience was extended to other manufacturing industries such as Automotive, Shipbuilding, Medical Devices, Machine Builders, and Apparel through my R&D, Strategy, and Partnership leadership roles at Dassault Systemes and NovaQuest. My ability to meet and exceed business objectives at a global scale was realized by successfully creating, integrating, and optimizing large scale organizations in the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific geographies with Dassault Systems and Siemens Digital Industries. Most recently, I have led the transformation of the Siemens Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform, MindSphere, to significantly reduce cost while improving platform performance and functionality. Leveraging the pace of technology advancement on the cloud and expertise in global manufacturing brownfield IT/OT environments allows our organization to define manufacturing process and technology strategies and implementation approaches that are realizable in the near-term and provide significant, durable differentiation in the long-term.

  • Head, Digital Commerce and Operations, Offerings at Siemens Digital Industries Software

    I am leading the Siemens Digital Commerce Offerings organization with locations in the US, Germany, Israel, India, and China. We are delivering e-commerce capabilities as part of the Siemens digital transformation. With seamless support for the digital buyer’s journey across the entire Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, we’re removing friction from the purchase journey and extending our reach to all targeted markets. Working with internal stakeholders such as Sales, IT, and Product Segments across multiple business units, we are delivering new and improved digital channel capabilities by putting in place process and technology changes that span multiple organizations. In collaboration with partners such as Deloitte Consulting, Accenture, and Salesforce, we have delivered full, self-service eCommerce for internal Siemens Product owners and third-party sellers across 22 locales (including China), 7 currencies, 3 payment types (including China UnionPay), 500+ products, four storefronts, digital marketing assets, and the Siemens Xcelerator Marketplace.

  • Head, MindSphere AWS R&D at Siemens PLM Software

    As a key component of Siemens' global strategy, I led the delivery of the Siemens Industry 4.0 IIoT platform on AWS. With full support and guidance from the Siemens Board of Directors we collaborated with other Siemens business units, executives, internal stakeholders, and partners, to deliver our IIoT strategic platform, MindSphere. To deliver the platform in under 10 months, we created an organization of over 800 persons located in 9 development labs in the US, Europe, India, and China. Defined, planned, and integrated the R&D organizations, process, technology, and tooling changes necessary to deliver efficiently, at very large scale. Moved our IIoT platform, MindSphere, to AWS from SAP HANA. The result is an IIoT platform that meets the Siemens strategic needs and allows our customers to engage in new business models through the global availability of always connected products and consistent, always-on, value-added services.

  • President and CTO at SMARTBIM, LLC

    Served as CTO of this $10M construction software and content services company. Transformed the organization, business, product development, and support services to reduce costs by 50% and increase addressable market. Assumed role as President within 6 months of joining. Collaborated with company founders and investment partners to create the vision, strategy, and product roadmap to transform the company from a content creation provider into a digital marketing partner for building product manufacturers such as Armstrong, Delta, CertainTeed, Toto, Kimball Office, and HermanMiller. Brought together acquired products and organization by consolidating redundant applications and aligning processes and technology to the product roadmap.

  • Vice President, Consulting, Services, and Support at NovaQuest LLC

    Created and managed a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) services organization from first employee to 15 persons. Worked with CEO, CFO, and VP of Sales to formulate strategy and execute the business plan. Targeted C-level digital transformations in aerospace, automotive, industrial equipment, medical devices, and apparel with customers such as Medtronic and UnderArmour. Leveraged customer engagements to create reusable services delivery templates. Worked closely with the sales organization to balance customer spend between software license revenue while creating a profitable services business.

  • Senior Director, R&D, Omneo at Siemens PLM Software

    Led the integration of this Siemens acquired product, Omneo, and its development organization into our Cloud Application Solutions to bring to market a machine learning, SaaS Product. Process transformations from traditional waterfall to Scrum and technology transformation from custom, data center deployment to a highly scalable, AWS-based platform to move to a fully functioning product team delivering Siemens generally available products. Reduced operational costs and enabled the ability to onboard and operate new customers at 3X lower costs. The product introduction of Omneo served to form the best practices for following SaaS products, such as MindSphere. Worked with global electronics OEMs to maximize the ROI from the Product Intelligence technology and associated process changes.

  • Principal at Semmes Consulting

    Worked with manufacturing clients to form digital strategies and plan and implement transformation projects with $150M+ revenue clients such as Universal Wilde. Reduced product development cycle times by 50% while improving product quality and reducing production efficiency by 20%. Assessed business objectives, strategy, organization, processes, technology, skills, IT, and OT to form digitalization strategies that provide significant operational efficiency improvements and better products. Provided consulting services throughout all phases of the implementations to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Head, MindSphere Products, Emerging Markets at Siemens PLM Software

    To further the global availability and enter the Chinese market with Siemens' IIoT platform, MindSphere, I led the formation of the China-based MindSphere development team by taking full advantage of existing resources, local hiring to fill resource gaps, and selecting an organization leadership to scale to approximately 60 persons. We partnered with Alibaba to develop and sell the MindSphere platform in the China locale. Primary accomplishments were to understand and meet all business compliance requirements; establish a high performance organization, culture, and consistent delivery capability; assess available technologies and reimplement MindSphere on the Alibaba platform; work with state-owned-enterprises and other Chinese customers to understand the market and, with partners such as Atos and RedHat, create market-leading solutions.
