As a passionate social gerontologist, I am dedicated to advancing the understanding of healthy aging and creating supportive environments that enhance the quality of life for older adults. My work focuses on the intricate interplay between social and physical environments, exploring how neighborhood socio-structural features, resources, and physical characteristics impact the health and well-being of older adults. I am particularly interested in examining the psychosocial mechanisms that mediate the effects of neighborhood context on individual health behaviors and outcomes. Additionally, I am committed to investigating the intersection between social context and gender and racial/ethnic disparities in health, providing valuable insights to guide strategies for improving the well-being of older adults in diverse communities. My research also delves into the complex interplay between neighborhood and family ties, addressing topics such as social engagement, loneliness, and social isolation among older adults. This reflects my long-term commitment to understanding how family dynamics and neighborhood context shape the social lives of older adults. Grounded in community gerontology, I am an advocate for policies and interventions that support aging in place and the development of age-friendly communities. My goal is to ensure that older adults can thrive in diverse settings by fostering strong social connections and creating environments conducive to healthy and fulfilling lives. Through my work, I aim to contribute to developing evidence-based strategies that enhance the well-being of older adults in various community contexts.
