Graduated with a Master of Public Health from King's College London, building upon a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College. Currently serving as an F2 Trainee at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, contributing across Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, and General Practice. Core competencies include healthcare delivery, health policy, and health research, all underpinned by a strong foundation in public health principles. •Assessments, appropriate management of patients followed by onward referrals to appropriate specialities to ensure continuity of care for all ages from newborns to elderly care patients. • Stabilisation and management of acutely unwell patients in resus room and liaising with specialities to ensure multidisciplinary care for patients. • Planning safe discharges for medically optimised patients with follow ups arranged with specialities where appropriate. • Practice and development of key learning outcomes on par with ACCS EM Curriculum by maintaining a robust portfolio of workplace based assessments and reflections.
Placements (4 months each): Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics and General Practice. As an A&E SHO, I assessed and managed patients to deliver high quality critical care before streamlining them towards long term care. I also managed patients independently in the resuscitation bay and the paediatric emergency space performing assessments, and escalating in a timely manner to the appropriate professionals. In Paediatrics, I actively participated in ward rounds and clerking of patients who present to the children's assessment. During on call, I was solely responsible for assessing and providing initial management to babies presenting with a variety of post natal issues. I performed NIPEs independently and as the neonatal SHO attended low risk deliveries independently and assisted in high risk deliveries with a senior paediatrician. In General Practice, I independently assessed patients presenting with new health concerns and also did follow up assessments on chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and even mental health. The placement also included weekly visits to a residential care home for regular reviews and management of the residents there.
• Researcher within a globally recognised, integrated human rights, gender equality, and sexual and reproductive health advocacy team that spans 32 countries. • Led the editing of the Pandemic Periods - Global Leaders report, that targeted UN Agencies, and Member states to mainstream menstrual health across global policies, programmes, and human rights treaties.
• Attended daily trauma meetings, and consultant led ward rounds, and came up with management plan with the trauma team and discussed plan of care while conforming to the Trust and NICE guidelines. • Observed the pre-operative preparation, incorporation of the WHO Surgical Safety checklist during an orthopaedic procedure. • Developed working knowledge of the EPR system and the associated IT services gained through supervised documentation post-review. • Developed a profound understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection in the NHS.
• Actively rotated through the departments of Paediatric Surgery, Neurology, Medical Gastroenterology and Urology gaining experience in both surgical and non-surgical specialitie in one of the top tertiary care hospitals in India. • Consistent upskilling by independently performing upwards of 500 IV cannulations, 70 diagnostic and therapeutic paracenteses and assisted and independently performed 10 lumbar punctures and over 20 skin sutures, while strictly adhering to hospital infection control practices. • Assisted in injection sclerotherapy, circumcisions, lithotripsy, while enhancing valuable clinical skills. • Independently assessed 250+ patients across different super specialty departments with the relevant teams. • Developed proficiency in performing bed-side investigations, interpreting laboratory tests and radiological imaging to guide comprehensive patient management. • Obtained pre-procedure consent, incorporating practices pertaining to informed consent to patients across all ages, per the hospital guidelines. • Attended seminars, journal clubs and pre-operative case discussions to further continue advancing my professional education.
A deliberate move immediately after completion of medical education to focus on personal and professional development. My time during this break was dedicated to pursuing self-taught education in health research, ultimately leading to three publications in the peer-reviewed Indian Journal of Ophthalmology towards the later half of 2022. By 31 January 2022, after having gone through multiple rounds of shortlisting, I received a job offer for the post of Non-PG Junior Resident - the equivalent of a non-training F2 doctor in the UK - in JIPMER, an Institute of National Importance and one of the largest centrally funded tertiary care hospitals in India.
