Leading a greenfield, path-finder project to provide FX services in public cloud (GCP)
Played a key role in the migration of a business critical FX application from on-premises to private cloud. This involved modernising an over 100k line monolithic codebase in java 8 to java 21 springboot microservices. Took responsibility for maintaining Insights, diagnosed and fixed production bugs and onboarded two engineers onto the project.
Led the development of Insights, a new Java micro service-based data pipeline to aggregate trade data from numerous systems into PowerBI dashboards. Implemented real-time monitoring of performance metrics and historic data spanning 3+ years and 10+ million trades. The project was delivered a year ahead of schedule and is now used by 100+ traders daily. Reliability was a key focus, with the data pipeline designed to be transactional and active-active. Worked across teams including with directors to deliver the project. Developed a commercial web-application to view quotes using Spring-Boot on the back-end and React for the front-end. Scalability was a key focus with asynchronous rendering and server-side pagination being used.
Responsible for conducting extensive manual testing of the ComXo Business Services Mobile App across the entire testing lifecycle, from translating requirements into test cases, to working with developers to close defects. Introduced automated system testing using C# and MSTest to compare data from the app API with the database. Delivered demonstrations to the wider company on the app and testing.
Addressed issues in the organisation by designing software to meet business needs. This primarily involved designing an Audit mobile application to allow auditors to conduct audits on-the-go. Created detailed software requirement documents and communicated the requirements with outsourced developers to ensure that the developed software addressed the original issues.
