About

Do new stuff. Not sitting still, moving around. Make things & impact. Share stories whilst making new ones. Working with people, from the (very) young to the more matured. That's me. Starting out as an elementary school teacher I expanded my horizon by going to university, history and economics being my majors. During my first working years after graduation I studied business & marketing on the side. Which helped me advance through the ranks of corporate life. Always doing new stuff I moved to the business (development) side and the forefront of innovation. The final years of corporate life I spent setting up in-house start-ups and data science initiatives world wide. After this great corporate ride I decided it was time for change and I founded my own consultancy company. A couple of exciting and fun years followed, mostly in the innovation space and start-up scenery. Here in NL and abroad. But I still more or less did the same thing. Through a course in carpentry & furniture making I learned that working more practically gives a great feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment. I started helping a friend out with his rapidly growing ship building business. It was once more time for change and I joined ownership of the wharf. We have now grown the existing boat business into an innovative, sustainable electric wharf in Amsterdam. Each time we make our clients happy with a sustainable electric boat I feel grateful for the small but concrete joy that we bring. To both individual clients and to the environment as a whole. Time permitting, I still do some academic teaching on the side.In private life I try to contribute to the local community by serving as both chairman and youth-trainer of the local Ice Skating Club and by being the chairman for our cooperative Disability Fund for Entrepreneurs.
