Greetings! I am a New Jersey-based author, researcher, and historian specializing in the material culture of the American presidency. I am best known for my forensic research into the garments worn by Abraham Lincoln on the night of his assassination. In "Lincoln’s Greatcoat: The Unlikely Odyssey of a Presidential Relic" (McFarland, 2019), I trace the journey of what is often called the most significant relic of Lincolniana, highlighting its bespoke craftsmanship and the symbolic "One Country, One Destiny" embroidery. My new work, "Lincoln’s Frock Coat: The Enduring Mystery of an Assassination Relic" (McFarland, 2026), investigates the competing provenances of three black frock coats, each historically touted as Lincoln’s "death raiment."
