I’m a PhD geologist and Full Professor with more than 25 years of experience working between academia and the energy sector. My main interests are structural geology, field geology, and seismic interpretation. Earlier in my career, I worked in R&D in tectonic and structural geology at PDVSA-INTEVEP. As a consultant with Geosinteg S.A., I prepared technical reports that combined field observations, stratigraphic correlations, and structural models to support Repsol YPF’s drilling and asset development decisions. At Universidad Simón Bolívar, I enjoy teaching advanced geoscience courses and mentoring students. I also provide professional training in structural geology for energy companies such as PEMEX, YPF, Petroecuador, and YPFB. I’m passionate about turning solid geological research into practical tools that help solve real exploration challenges and support the development of the next generation of geoscientists.
Delivered over 300 hours of high-level technical training for National Oil Companies (NOCs) across Latin America. I specialize in bridging advanced structural theory with practical exploration. Academic & Research Advising: Directed the professional development and research of 10 Master’s candidates and 6 Undergraduate/Internship researchers. Technical supervision spanned diverse fields including Fracture Analysis, Petroleum Systems Analysis, Mining, Geomechanics, Structural Modeling, GIS, Tectonostratigraphy, Analog Modeling, Seismic Interpretation, and Geomorphology.
Directed the “Isla de Aves” Project, overseeing a coastal dynamics study to assess environmental impact and coastal stability. Conducted several field campaigns, integrating structural mapping and stratigraphic data into regional exploration models to de-risk drilling prospects. Published a series of internal technical reports on seismic inversion and interpretation, delivering critical geophysical insights to asset development teams.
Authored three high-impact technical reports by synthesizing complex field data, stratigraphic correlations, and structural models to provide actionable insights for Repsol YPF’s drilling and asset development strategies.
