Originally from Souderton, PA, Rebekah Stiles is a doctoral candidate in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music, where she served as studio assistant to Dr. Paul Barnes. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Piano Performance and Bible from Cairn University, where she studied with Kenneth Borrmann, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she studied with Paul Barnes. As a performer and collaborator, Stiles has exercised her versatility over the past seven years in the solo, chamber, and church settings. Her recent solo recitals have featured the works of Liszt, Schubert, Rameau, Janáček, Bartók, and Barber, and she has given solo performances both locally and internationally. Stiles is a passionate and experienced educator, welcoming students of all levels in both classroom and private settings. From 2020-2024, she held graduate teaching assistantships and fellowships from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she served as an instructor of record within the Keyboard Skills program. In addition, she served for two years as Assistant Coordinator for the Lincoln Community Piano Experience, a recreational group piano course for adults. As studio assistant to Dr. Paul Barnes, she has regularly taught privately on the undergraduate level, as well as conducting studio classes and serving as lecturer in the graduate Piano Literature course. Outside of academia, Stiles has served as faculty for the Lied Center Piano Academy, as well as the Csehy Summer School of Music. She also takes joy in working with private students of all levels.
• Maintain a private studio teaching credit and non-credit lessons • Serve as collaborative pianist for student lessons and performances throughout the semester • Oversee the Laudate chamber group, a student ensemble serving as ambassador to local schools • Develop curriculum for and teach courses within the Piano Performance degree
• Teach private lessons to middle and high school piano students at widely varying levels of experience • Complete lesson reports and communicate observations to students’ private instructors • Offer practice strategies, address technical limitations, and sequence lesson material at a pace appropriate to each student
• Teach weekly group piano lessons to adult students at beginner and intermediate levels • Prepare lesson plans, appraise and assign repertoire, provide additional resources based on students’ needs • Email weekly practice assignments and create custom demonstration videos • Maintain student waitlist and oversee processing of tuition payments • Determine course dates and provide advertisement materials to local news outlets
• Teach bi-weekly courses in piano proficiency to undergraduate music majors from Alfred’s Group Piano for Adults • Prepare weekly lesson plans and assignments and post to Canvas LMS • Prepare and administer daily grade assessments, sight-reading quizzes, and exams • Adjudicate end-of-semester performance juries • Seamlessly integrate keyboard lab technology (Clavinova keyboards, overhead camera, and projector) into the sequence of each lesson
