Developed strategy to increase the operational efficiency and capacity of an NGO in Guatemala focused on indigenous populations. Organized reconnaissance trip to Guatemala; conducted client due diligence to identify operational gaps and opportunities. Supported the work of a local NGO dedicated to increasing the capacity and improving the livelihoods of vulnerable households in Rukungiri District. As a team member, I secured a $10,000 PEPFAR grant to lead the construction, design and implementation of a computer center to train youth in computer skills and professional development. I also supported an entrepreneurship project which enabled out-of-school girls to begin their own tailoring businesses. Other projects: - Trained 24 households in climate-resilient permagardening to increase household nutrition - Conducted trainings on menstrual hygiene for 325 primary school children in 4 primary schools - Designed a strategic plan to address the needs of 8 Village Savings and Loans Associations within 5 sub-counties - Created diversity and intercultural training content and materials for incoming volunteers for all Diversity Committee led Peace Corps trainings
Advised 30 undergraduate students in the Global Scholars program attain and prepare for service-learning opportunities in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Facilitated interactive sessions on responsible service-learning and development challenges in the Global South.
