About

Richard Campbell is a freelance arranger, orchestrator, composer, musical director and musician based in the United Kingdom. He has worked as an arranger since 2007, with many arrangements for various ensembles published and sold. Also involved in musical theatre, he has acted as Musical Director for productions such as Evita, The Pirates of Penzance, My Fair Lady, Follies and Sweet Charity. As a musician, Richard has played for numerous theatre productions on various instruments including Titanic: The Musical (trombone), Just So (percussion), Little Shop of Horrors (trumpet) and The Addams Family (keys). He is a regular member of the City Wind Orchestra and the London Video Game Orchestra, for which he has also served as arranger. He has also recently entered the jazz scene, playing trombone for a 7-piece band based in Brixton. Richard’s scoring credits include the short films Business As Usual (screened on Showmax in collaboration with AFDA), Dark Moon (screened at the 2020 Croatia Film and Music Festival), and The Turtle Graveyard. He has also scored two theatre productions: Night of the Iguana, staged in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 2019, and Athol Fugard’s My Children! My Africa! He has also scored the keynote presentation Breaking Chains by Rusty Labuschagne that has been presented all over South Africa. As a composer of production music, Richard has released an album for MamaDance Music Solutions in Cape Town with another in progress, and has released an instrumental EP called Dreams, currently streaming on all major platforms. Originally from South Africa, Richard moved to the UK in 2022, obtaining his citizenship in 2024, and has since been active in the London music and theatre scene. Added to the running of the music department was the running of the Senior Choir and the Percussion Ensemble, as well as taking the Grade 3 classes for Performing Arts.
