About

I have vast experience in the making and Polishing of precision optics and various metals. Some experience in coating from Blueprint drawing to finished product. Have Police security clearance and itar. One of my accomplishments in R & D was to develop the process to polish super smooth surfaces (Below 1 Angstrom) for use on “Ring Laser gyros” substrates/mirrors, also optical contacting, and the repairing of Precision Optics. I can fulfill the roles with confidence and I know about Grinding and Polishing Plano optics (i.e. prisms, mirrors, windows etc) to high tolerances usually in small lots or large batches (angles to 4 seconds, surface quality 10-5, etc.) from raw material to finished parts by slicing, drilling, grinding, smoothing and Polishing, etc per blueprint provided by customer, can interpret customer blueprints and specs and follow verbal directions/instructions of supervisor, can work comfortably in a team but can also work on my own initiative. I can operate optical machines and equipment such as polishing machines, saws, bevellers, grinders and use test equipment interferometers, angle deckers collimators, verniers, micrometers, etc,Meet up with customers. also inspect my own work.

Main tasks are in the Grinding and machining of bearings using a CNC duplex grinder, I receive a batch of bearings which has a set amount of material to be removed in either imperial or metric (inches/microns), set up a height gauge (sylvac) for a reference, set up CNC grinder to a specific part number using a key pad on the panel, setup on a bearing, hold bearing onto a magnetic chuck, touch on part till spark can be seen then tell machine to teach new positions, then grind the set amount off each one using key pad. Periodically the table has to be ground to make it flat and parallel which I also do and also the truing/cleaning the grinding wheel.
