Dr Ramessur is an academic consultant dermatologist, currently doing a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and is a visiting lecturer at the St John’s Institute of Dermatology (King’s College London). His clinical and research focus lies in inflammatory skin diseases and translational medicine, encompassing both national and international collaborations. He also maintains a significant interest in guideline development and implementation, aiming to bridge the gap between research findings and clinical practice. His professional background spans the clinical, academic, and health technology sectors, where he has been involved in various roles including pharmacological research, genetics, epidemiology, personalised medicine, and health technology development. Ravi actively participates in national committee work, serving as a member of the NICE technology appraisal committee (2023-), the BAD therapeutics and guidelines committee (2023-), national audit committee (2021-), AI working party (2023-) and the BAD research committee (2019 to 2023). His clinical and research interests encompass: 1) investigating the impact of lifestyle factors such as diet, weight loss, and exercise on the treatment of psoriasis 2) exploring the connections between inflammatory skin diseases and other health conditions (comorbidities), such as heart disease, metabolic syndrome, and stress 3) identifying biological markers and predictive factors for the development of other health conditions in psoriasis, as well as assessing the responsiveness of psoriasis to treatment
I am an academic dermatologist who has completed a PhD at the St John's Institute of Dermatology at King's College London.
